Environmental awareness – from raw material to plywood reel

Our aim is to keep our impact on the environment as low as possible and to be responsible with and make sparing use of our resources.

• Wood: The raw material of our cable reels
  For the manufacture of our products, we only ever use raw materials from fast growing and sustainable forests. As a rule, we avoid the use of substances that are hazardous to the environment.
• Less packaging, more responsibility
  Our company strives to keep packaging materials to a minimum. Respective agreements are also made with our suppliers. The packaging materials that are used are completely recyclable.
• Production: Modern reel manufacture – people-friendly and eco-friendly
  In recent years, we have invested more intensively in state-of-the-art technology and methods to reduce the burden on the environment through improved production processes. For example, efficient, economically-operating plant systems have been procured, which have a higher output and, at the same time, reduced energy costs. Modern filters have been installed to reduce CO2 and progressive extraction systems have been installed to minimise dust emissions. Special attention was given to combating noise. Noise insulation chambers were assembled around especially loud plant sections, which made it possible to almost completely eradicate noise pollution.
• Waste salvage: A closed loop at Michelfelder
  The accumulation of production waste is collected by means of extraction systems and used either in the thermal utilisation plant to generate heat for production areas and operating rooms or recirculated as secondary material in the production cycles.
• Energy-saving concepts: State-of-the-art facilities
  Our plant technology is run at the highest level of energy efficiency. Where possible, conventional lighting is replaced with energy-saving alternatives. Our technicians are constantly working on ways in which to optimise the technical and energy-related processes. User behaviour is improved with intensive staff training.
• Promotion of environmental awareness among all at Michelfelder
  The fundamental aim is to promote environmental awareness among our staff and to encourage them to make sparing use of the resources.
